NJ High School Sports: Skyline Classic Returns to Jersey City
10/26/2015 9:00:33 AMAfter a 20-year hiatus, the Skyline Classic is returning to Jersey City! St. Anthony , a private high school in Jersey City, announced in a recent media release that it will host the 2015 basketball tournament, where some of the top NJ high school sports teams will compete.
St. Anthony, Pope John, St. Augustine, Christian Brothers and Trenton are the New Jersey sports teams in the event. Two New York teams, Our Savior New American and Iona Prep, will also compete, along with Brighton, a Massachusetts team.
St. Anthony’s coach, Bob Hurley, said in the release, “In bringing back the Skyline Classic after a 20 year hiatus we wanted to get the best possible collection of teams together to give the fans and area high caliber basketball." Hurley continued, "The goal is to make this the tournament teams want to be in and players want to play in.”
The NJ high school sports tournament will take place from December 27th to December 29th. While the official schedule hasn’t been released yet, we do know the games will start at noon, with the last game of each evening scheduled for 6 PM.
And while it’s all fun-and-games there’s also a charity component to the event! A clothing drive will be held before and after the games, where volunteers will be collecting sweaters, sneakers and coats.
