Oktoberfest New Jersey: A First Ever in Newport, Jersey City
10/26/2015 8:55:30 AMOn October 1st, Newport and Yelp! NJ hosted the area’s first Oktoberfest. Over 300 attendees came out to the New Jersey Oktoberfest (despite the rain!) to celebrate fall at some of the best restaurants and bars in Jersey City, Bavarian-style: with beer and sausage sliders!
The six-restaurant bar and restaurant crawl kicked off at check in, where guests had their picture taken with props, including beer mugs, pretzels and Tirolerhütes (those green Bavarian hats with a feather in them). For those who arrived early to the Oktoberfest in New Jersey, a contemporary Polka band, Sunnyside Social Club, entertained the crowd with its upbeat tunes!
Once everyone had their pictures taken, it was on to the next step! Guests picked up their passports, which included a map that doubled as an adult coloring book and came with a color changeable marker. They were also given their bar crawl routes for the evening and a convenient pouch to keep all their goodies in.
One guest, Alex V., said, “This event was pretty boss. I feel really lucky to live in Newport, so the whole thing was extremely convenient. This Oktoberfest was really well planned and all the establishments were welcoming and hospitable. The food and drinks were top notch! This was also a great opportunity to catch up with all the other awesome yelpers!”
