• JC Fridays: The Best Jersey City Events Are Back!

Jersey City’s beloved JC Fridays are back and better than ever! The citywide festival kicked off the 2015 season with a bang on Friday, March 6th by featuring nine free events in Jersey City.

Executive Director of Art House Productions Christine Goodman coordinated several live music and family-friendly events, all at new venues.  "It's great to see people creating artistic cultural centers in their neighborhoods," said Goodman. "Jersey City people love where they live, they know their neighbors and they want to share that. JC Fridays is a perfect opportunity to do so."

Highlights from the first 2015 JC Fridays event included:

The Great Greenville Gathering: A showing of local art and music at 128 Winfield Avenue by JC Friday-regulars Project Greenville. The pro-community arts group provided snacks from local businesses and brought live music by Drum and a Tantrum together with artwork by new and familiar faces, including Jim Legge, Lucy Rovetto, Lester Sanchez and Jill Stasium.

143 Alive!: At JC Studio’s small but mighty space in Downtown Jersey City, crowds of people roamed from room to room to see creative paintings, sculptures and mixed-media projects by New Jersey favorites like Sam Pullin, Nancy Palubniak and Norm Kirby.  Live music played through the night until 1:00 a.m., with performances by Lip Action, DJ SlimeGrimeR and Drum and a Tantrum, who were making their second appearance of the night.

“Seasonal Shorts”: Speranza Theatre Company presented a collection of dramas and comedies written by local Jersey City and New Jersey writers.  This was a special treat for the kick-off of JC Fridays, as theatre performances are not held every single Friday during these events in Jersey City.

Jersey Statuary: Live Music and Art: top-notch talent rocked the stage in Jersey City Heights at a former statuary factory that music-loving, power-couple Margo and Walter Parks converted this year into an innovative venue. Bombay Rickey was a crowd favorite.
