High school sports in New Jersey are annually competitive and exciting. From football to wrestling to basketball, the quality of competition is outstanding from season to season. As fans embark on the next chapter of the schedule, the baseball season is poised to treat us with the greatest selection of stars thus far. Here are some of the players around the state that baseball fans need to get out and see:

Victor Diaz, St. Joseph Metuchen, Senior: Victor will be the key to St. Joseph's state title hopes. He pitched to a a sub 3.40 era last year, and hit over .390 while playing an outstanding second base. His talents will land him at Mississippi State next fall.

Eric Stevens, Don Bosco Prep, Senior: Eric had a breakout Junior season in 2009 by posting a sub 2.00 era and striking out more batters than innings pitched. With former New York Yankee Mike Stanton the school's new head coach, Stevens could be even better in 2010. Stanton takes over a program that is already a juggernaut, and brings his World Series champion pitching expertise with him.

Jake Kalish: Red Bank Regional, Senior: The younger brother of Boston Red Sox prospect Ryan Kalish is making a name for himself in the Shore Conference. He is a fleet footed center fielder who covers more ground than anyone in the state. If his bat continues to develop, he could be the best all around outfielder in the conference.

Bryan Solomon, Jackson Memorial, Senior: The best pure hitter in the state. He has begun 2010 on a tear, hitting two home runs in his first game. He knocked in thirty runs last year while hitting .440 in a conference known more for pitching.
